If your return is filed before the tax deadline, your federal and state taxes will be drafted out on the tax deadline. For the IRS, the deadline is normally April 15th, although this can be a few days later depending upon if the 15th falls on a weekend or if it’s Emancipation Day in Washington, D.C. For most states the deadline is the same; however, some states have different due dates, including South Carolina whose due date is May 1st. Refer to your client letter you received with your tax return to see each state’s date of withdrawal.
